Equipment Operator II

Job Location Anahuac Job Summary and Princiapl Duties Drives truck, operate loaders, and performs related work to maintain county roads and bridges in good repair and right-of-way's cleared. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Operates dump trucks, asphalt distributors, water trucks, rock spreaders, and pick-up trucks to haul materials, equipment, brush, and trash to or from work sites and distribute materials on road and bridge surfaces
• Operates front-end loaders, forklifts, steel wheel and pneumatic rollers, sheep foots, gradalls, motor graders, and tractor mowers in the absence of primary operators;
• Assists in road base preparation tasks prior to paving;
• Performs tasks associated with bridge construction and repair as directed;
• Distributes asphalt to prepared road bases and seal coats roads;
• Operates jack hammers and air tamps as necessary to patch potholes in road surfaces;
• Assists in installing and clearing culverts, and removes debris from roadside ditches;
• Performs routine preventive maintenance of department equipment or vehicles including repairing flat tires, greasing components, and checking oil, fuel, and water levels; and
• Distributes sand to bridge road surfaces to improve vehicle traction during freezing weather.
