Job Description

This position involves providing nursing care for a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) in the Medical-Surgical Unit (MSU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate must be experienced across various nursing areas and be flexible to assist in multiple departments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's and significant others' needs for education, providing appropriate educational resources.
• Ensure patient safety through preventative measures, including the proper use of side rails, restraints, and equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation of equipment in PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas, troubleshooting as necessary.
• Implement infection control and isolation procedures, adhering to documentation protocols.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses during assigned shifts.
• Accurately process physician orders in a timely manner.
• Provide thorough change-of-shift reports to incoming staff.
• Communicate effectively with other departments and report critical lab values to physicians promptly.
• Maintain and restock emergency carts, rooms, and general supplies.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
