About the Role As an Associate Veterinarian, you'll serve as the medical leader for your patients, coordinating every aspect of their care while educating clients and collaborating with our veterinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes. You'll practice medicine with autonomy, contribute to hospital protocols, and help create an environment where both pets and people thrive. What You'll Do Outpatient Care Perform comprehensive physical examinations and diagnose medical conditions. Develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Perform immunizations, diagnostics, wellness care, and medical procedures. Prescribe and administer medications. Perform and interpret in-house laboratory diagnostics or coordinate with reference laboratories. Safely manage patients throughout their care. Surgical & Inpatient Care Perform routine surgical procedures and treatments. Perform dental examinations and dental procedures. Manage surgery and treatment areas. Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia. Monitor hospitalized patients and adjust treatment plans as needed. Interpret diagnostic imaging. Oversee proper maintenance of surgical instruments, equipment, and hospital treatment areas. Maintain a valid DEA license for prescribing controlled substances in accordance with state and federal regulations. Medical Records & Documentation Maintain accurate SOAP medical records. Document treatment plans and patient progress. Ensure accurate coding, billing, reminders, and follow-up documentation. Client Education & Communication Build trusted relationships with clients through compassionate communication. Educate pet owners on preventive care, treatment options, medications, nutrition, and long-term wellness. Answer client questions honestly and confidently. Support the value of quality veterinary medicine through education. Leadership & Collaboration Contribute to hospital medical protocols and standards of care. Mentor and support newer veterinarians when appropriate. Collaborate with technicians, assistants, and client service representatives to deliver outstanding patient care. Help create a positive, supportive, and efficient workplace culture. Hospital & Practice Success Practice medicine at an exceptional standard of care. Advocate for every patient. Maintain positive relationships with referral partners. Assist with inventory awareness and medical supply management. Help improve workflows and hospital efficiency. Participate in continuing education and professional development. Support team training and development. What We're Looking For Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent. Active Ohio veterinary license (or ability to obtain one). DEA license or ability to obtain one. Small animal experience is preferred but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Strong communication and client education skills. Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency and medical record documentation skills. Physical Requirements This position requires lifting, carrying, and safely restraining animals (with assistance provided for pets over 40 pounds), standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and working in surgical or treatment settings. Team members may occasionally be exposed to animal-related risks including scratches, bites, noise, odors, and contagious diseases while following established safety and OSHA protocols.
