Role Description The Mechanical Operations Director is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Cleveland, OH, responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day mechanical contracting operations. This role leads project planning and execution for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems, including resource allocation, scheduling, and coordination with project managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors. The Mechanical Operations Director monitors project performance, cost control, quality standards, and safety compliance, ensuring work meets contractual requirements and industry regulations. This position also collaborates with estimating and preconstruction teams, supports client relationships, and drives continuous improvement in operational processes, staffing, and use of technology. The role includes mentoring team members, resolving operational issues, and representing the company in meetings with clients, vendors, and industry organizations. Qualifications Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including experience directing field and project teams in mechanical contracting or construction. Strong mechanical systems knowledge, with experience in HVAC, power and process piping, and plumbing installation and service in industrial, commercial, or institutional environments. Project management capabilities, including scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, and coordination across multiple concurrent projects. Operational and safety management skills, including familiarity with OSHA requirements, quality assurance practices, and risk mitigation in construction settings. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Analytical and problem‑solving abilities for resolving technical, logistical, and contractual issues in fast‑paced project environments. Proficiency with industry‑standard software and tools (e.g., project management, scheduling, and documentation platforms). Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience in mechanical contracting may be considered. Several years of progressive experience in mechanical contracting operations, with prior director or senior management experience preferred.
