Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. 3–5 years of related experience. Machinist skill level or higher. Licenses & Certifications Journeyman certificate preferred. Skills & Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of temperature changes caused by machine operations and proper coolant usage. Prior machinist experience as a machine operator. Ability to use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of shop practices, procedures, and machinability of metals. Essential Job Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with minimum supervision. Operate a variety of machine tools and perform operations independently as outlined in methods and process sheets. Make minor adjustments of feeds and speeds on assigned machine tool. Grind own cutting tools and drills (excluding special purpose tools). Check parts using specified gauges or provided fixtures to verify dimensions. Report improper machine function and/or parts dimensions. Assist and train others of lesser skill and experience. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Follow all safety and environmental procedures. Maintain accurate paperwork and records; uphold high housekeeping standards. Marginal Duties Perform other duties as required. Individual compensation within the range is determined by factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, job‑related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
