Associate Engineer, Grid Modernization-1

Responsibilities Support the company’s electric system operators by optimizing the distribution system using advanced DMS functionality such as Automatic Feeder Reconfiguration (AFR), Load Volt/VAR Management (LVM), Planned Outage Study, and DER/Load Forecasting. Develop expertise in real‑time system technologies including ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var optimization, and load shedding. Collaborate with system operations, IT, and engineering resources to ensure DMS functionality and future enhancements. Specify and configure DMS advanced applications such as FLISR, LVM, AFR, and Load and Generation Scheduling. Participate in the review and assessment of technology options related to grid modernization, executing competitive procurement processes. Develop tools and methods to process and organize data from multiple sources to design and verify engineering models and databases. Support multi‑disciplinary teams across three states (distribution engineering, system planning, substation engineering, telecommunications engineering, standards, system operations, field operations, IT, regulatory, legal, community relations, corporate strategy, and other groups) to ensure effective implementation of grid modernization programs. Communicate the company’s grid modernization initiatives externally as appropriate and participate in industry forums to support the company’s position regarding best practices in grid modernization. Qualifications Knowledge of utility power systems preferred. Customer‑driven attitude with initiative and a can‑do mindset. Ability to independently develop, present, and execute new projects through collaboration with other departments. Bachelor’s degree in engineering. 0‑3 years related experience required; engineering design experience preferred. No specific licenses or certifications required. Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary. Position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required. Compensation and Benefits Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with your experience and ranges from $82,800.00 to $92,000.00.
