Western State Hospital is seeking a Rehab Assistant full time to assist in developing and implementing therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program and provide open leisure programming available to all patients of Western State Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts 18-20 hours of psychosocial rehabilitation interventions per week, according to approved schedules.
- Ensures that interventions are appropriate to individual patient's ages, interests, and abilities as reflected by assessment data
- Accountable for tracking patient attendance in the open leisure program
- Assists supervisor and open leisure staff in the planning, organizing, and implementing monthly special event programs and outings for the open leisure program
- Maintains an approved schedule to ensure fulfillment of all work requirements including filling out leave slips with coverage

Minimum Qualifications

- Valid Virginia Driver's license

Additional Considerations

- High School diploma or equivalent
- College courses in psychology, recreational therapy, education, and/or a related field or equivalent experience
- Bilingual
- Veteran or veteran spouse
