About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nurse Specialty: Staff Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 nights, 36/week, every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Medical/Surgical nursing License: Current NYS RN License Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross) Must-Have: Five plus years of direct experience Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering. This is achieved through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This is in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, policies, Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients. The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy. The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, supplies, and services. The RN complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements. The RN actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model. This involves supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices. The RN engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. The RN will perform other duties as assigned.
