Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team. This full-time Veterinary Assistant opportunity is ideal for someone looking to build hands-on emergency veterinary skills while working alongside experienced veterinarians and credentialed technicians in a specialty animal hospital.

Compensation

• $17–$21/hour, based on experience and skills

Schedule
Choose the schedule that works best for you:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week (one weekend shift required)
• Four 9-hour shifts per week (one weekend shift required)
• Five 8-hour shifts per week (no weekends)

Full-time opportunity with multiple scheduling options available.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians throughout the patient visit and treatment process
• Provide safe and compassionate restraint during patient examinations and procedures
• Prepare, disinfect, and maintain treatment areas, exam rooms, and equipment
• Assist with outpatient appointments and inpatient care
• Communicate with clients professionally and compassionately during appointments and treatments
• Support the medical team in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous veterinary assistant or animal handling experience preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical or emergency veterinary environment
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Team-focused, collaborative mindset with willingness to learn
• Ability to safely restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
