Radiologic Technologist - Full Time

Radiologic Technologist – UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants to examine and treat UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role involves providing varied technical procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, performing and analyzing patient x‑rays, and reporting results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. Essential Functions Perform x‑ray services under clinical provider direction by applying x‑ray energy for diagnosis or treatment of patients of all age groups. Ensure proper patient positioning, protection, and safety during imaging procedures; assist patients in wheelchairs if necessary. Prepare patients for examination: conduct interviews, verify patient information, record medical history, confirm purpose of visit, and perform preliminary vital sign checks. Conduct point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) as needed and provide the results to providers. Maintain medical records, scan charts, and perform courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up. Follow operating instructions for daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets. Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine optimal procedures and views for accurate diagnoses. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles to minimize exposure to patients and staff. Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems or logbooks. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of x‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology. Skill in positioning patients properly for the x‑ray procedure. Ability to identify equipment problems and correct or notify supervisors. Adherence to infection control and radiological safety procedures. Qualifications High School Diploma required; graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Preferred experience in a clinical setting. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at the time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required by state law, if applicable.
