Systems Engineer Lead

We are seeking a Systems Engineer Lead to join our team. The Systems Engineering Lead oversees the design, development, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise workstation and server operating system images across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. This role ensures secure, compliant, and efficient image management while providing Tier 3 engineering support.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading development and maintenance of enterprise "gold" workstation and server images.
• Managing image lifecycle, version control, patching, and updates (OS, firmware, BIOS, drivers).
• Supporting Windows-based environments (primary) and Apple systems (limited use).
• Ensuring compatibility with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and cloud services (e.g., M365).
• Performing functional testing within development and test environments prior to deployment.
• Maintaining compliance with federal security standards (FISMA, NIST, DISA STIGs).
• Supporting structured Change Control Board (CCB) processes.
• Providing Tier 3 support for workstation/server image and patch-related issues.
• Collaborating with security, asset management, EUC teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment and lifecycle support.

Required qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Eligible for a Public Trust (NRC IT-1).
• 35 years of experience with workstation and server operating system imaging, development, and lifecycle management.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
• Demonstrated experience managing the MECM/SCCM console, including deployment tracking, reporting, and systems administration.
• Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and managing Windows 11 "gold" or "master" images within an MECM/SCCM environment.
• Experience maintaining and managing an enterprise image library for a medium-to-large organization.
• Experience supporting MECM from a server and infrastructure design perspective.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell scripting and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with enterprise patch management across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Familiarity with DevOps/Agile methodologies and ITIL-based service management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience providing Tier 3 technical support in enterprise environments.

Wage information:

Target salary range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00. The salary range displayed is an estimate only and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements. The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
