Senior Roadway Inspector

Senior Roadway Inspector – Denver, CO We are seeking a Senior Roadway Inspector to join our team in Denver, CO. The position requires travel to remote locations within Colorado and/or the western United States to work on roadways, bridges, and other highway infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Observes contractor work during construction of projects and performs quality assurance (QA) activities. Acts as Owner’s Representative for State, Federal, or local clients and communicates with client representatives, contractors, and regulatory agency personnel. Documents construction activities per contract requirements, including daily diaries, payment reports, memos on acceptance or rejection of work, change orders, etc. Reviews contract documents, project plans, specifications, and progress reports. Researches and interprets contract requirements to determine whether construction work is performed in substantial compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions. Plans and prioritizes tasks, advising internal project manager and/or owner regarding failures or delays. Reviews contractor pay requests for final payment by the client. Reviews shop drawings within area of expertise for conformance with design concept. Coordinates operations within the organization unit to ensure consistency with policies and procedures. Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; or Associate’s degree plus eight years of related experience. Without a degree, ten years of related experience is required. Certification (or ability to obtain) in applicable areas required by clients. Experience with roadway construction; experience with bridge construction and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls is a plus. Good mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong computer skills – ability to process paper and electronic documents and use standard office software. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Physical fitness: ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat, crawl to inspect work; ability to observe construction activities, distinguish colors, and perceive backs‑up alarms and warnings. Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures, weather conditions, insects, flooded terrain, equipment/traffic, and other hazards. Ready to work non‑standard shifts, including long hours, weekends, or nights as directed by the client or manager. Compensation Expected compensation range $85,000–$110,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and location. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
