Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) - Cortland, NY

Job Summary: We're seeking a recent nursing program graduate to join our team as a Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN). As a GPN, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide basic patient care and support patient treatment plans in a healthcare setting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop your skills in patient care while awaiting licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York State.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide basic patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)
• Assist with wound care and simple medical procedures
• Administer medications only as permitted under supervision and state guidelines
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to supervising RN
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Support infection control and safety protocols
• Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs)
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Supervision: You will work under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and cannot practice independently until fully licensed as an LPN.

Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program
• Eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam
• Current CPR/BLS certification (often required)

Pay range: ~$26/HR

Career Progression: Pass NCLEX-PN ? Become LPN, gain experience ? specialize or move into higher-paying roles, or option to pursue RN (Associate or BSN).
