Senior Illustrations Systems Analyst

Job Description Pacific Life is recruiting for a driven and innovative Illustrations System Analyst to join the Illustrations Team in Newport Beach, CA. The role focuses on analyzing business requirements for the system and performing quality assurance testing to ensure requirements are met. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Analyze complex life insurance and annuity product specifications—including actuarial formulas and business requirements for the user interface—to define testing scope, estimate effort, and identify potential issues in system implementation. Review requirements and create detailed technical documentation to guide the development of software applications. Collaborate directly with developers, business stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and clarity. Maintain and develop advanced testing tools that incorporate full calculation specifications for life insurance products to support analysis, troubleshoot complex illustration system issues, identify root causes, and drive resolution in partnership with the team. Develop comprehensive test strategies, build test cases, and define expected results for software—including system functionality, calculations, and regression. Monitor, manage, and prioritize system defects and enhancement requests using issue‑tracking tools, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with stakeholders. Produce new issue and in‑force illustrations for products and policies not currently supported by existing systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, actuarial science, or a related field. Intense visual and listening concentration required to troubleshoot problems and determine the best solution, make informed decisions, and provide recommendations. Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while excelling in a collaborative team environment. Willingness and initiative to learn both the technical and business aspects necessary to take ownership and execute key responsibilities. What makes you stand out Previous knowledge of the life insurance and annuity industry strongly preferred. 3+ years of experience working with life insurance and/or annuity products and riders. Proficiency in developing detailed test plans. Strong spreadsheet skills in Excel, with ability to read and code macros an advantage. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working within sprint cadences. Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across departments.
