Medical Billing Specialist- Collector

Location: Los Angeles, CA Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8-hour shifts (typically starting between 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM) Key Responsibilities Manage insurance accounts receivable (AR) and follow up on unpaid or denied claims. Resolve claim denials, underpayments, and rejections. Prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals. Review EOBs/ERAs, denial codes, and payer billing requirements. Track aged and high-value accounts through final resolution. Document collection activities and identify recurring denial trends. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of recent medical office billing and provider-side collections experience; 7+ years preferred. Strong experience with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medi-Cal/Medicaid, and managed care plans. Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, CMS-1500 claims, modifiers, and payer requirements. Experience with claim appeals, denial resolution, and aged AR follow-up. Familiarity with payer portals, practice management systems, and Microsoft Office. High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Schedule Full-Time Flexible scheduling may be required.
