RN - Registered Nurse - Unit-Based Travel Alternative Program -TAP - Multiple Shifts Join to apply for the RN - Registered Nurse - Unit-Based Travel Alternative Program -TAP - Multiple Shifts role at UAB Medicine Job Description Within the Travel Alternative Program (TAP), utilize the nursing process to care and counsel individuals in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury. Using a systematic critical‑thinking approach guide data gathering, assessment, judgment, intervention and evaluation of human responses to actual and potential health problems through activities such as health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive and restorative care. Identify patient needs using the AACN Synergy Model. Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care provided to the patient, their family and the community in a timely and cost‑effective manner. Deliver patient care in collaboration with the patient, family and all members of the health care team and with the knowledge of licensed physicians, psychologists, podiatrists and/or dentists. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to care and counsel individuals in promotion of health and prevention of illness. Guide assessment, judgment, intervention and evaluation through health teaching, counseling and supportive care. Identify patient needs using the AACN Synergy Model. Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care for patients, families and community. Deliver patient care in collaboration with the health care team and licensed providers. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA). Obtain within 30 days of employment. Depending on unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required. 2 years of experience in the area approved for assignment. Candidates with less than 2 years experience but with 12 months of recent UAB RN experience will be considered. Contract Length Initial contract length is 12 weeks with optional renewal for a duration of 8 to 12 weeks.
