High Level Statement of the Role:

The Assistant Quality Manager supports the Quality Manager in overseeing all food safety and quality assurance activities within the facility. This position provides leadership to the Quality team, ensures compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, monitors production processes, investigates quality issues, manages corrective actions and promotes continuous improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·         Perform process checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation, and warehousing functions of the company, including pre-operational checks, sanitation verification and in progress verifications, halting any processes with concerns.

·         Assess GMP and FDA compliance risk areas

·         Calibrate test equipment.

·         Provide daily direction, support and coaching to the Quality team.

·         Participate in performance evaluations and employee development.

·         Address attendance, performance and behavioral concerns.

·         Verify employees are following proper procedures and specifications.

·         Conduct research on Quality Assurance issues and deliver reports to management.

·         Monitor critical control points, quality checks and documentation.

·         Training of Quality employees

·         Investigate deviations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are completed

·         Review Quality records for completeness and accuracy.

·         Ensure documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner.

·         Serve as a point of contact when the quality manager is unavailable.

·         Make immediate quality and food safety decisions based on production and facility needs

·         Ensuring all Quality staffing and responsibilities are covered and communicate with QC Manager for approval

Qualifications:

·         Associates degree or certificate in food science or related field preferred. 

·         Experience in a FDA regulated facility required

·         Lean Manufacturing experience preferred

·         Computer literate (Microsoft Suite)

·         Ability to work in a fast paced environment that is results driven.

·         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously

·         Ability to stand, bend, lift, pull, push and walk for extended periods of time

·         Leadership/mentorship experience

·         Two or more years in a quality role preferred
