This role is hybrid requiring 2 days in office at our San Francisco hub every Tuesday & Wednesday (located at 130 Sutter St). About the JobThis role is on the Operations Technology Team. Our team focuses on building features and tools to support internal departments like Customer Support , Task Logistics , Marketing , Tasker Success etc, as they manage our marketplace and work with our Clients and our Taskers. Our charter is to provide Operations with the internally applicable, intelligent tooling required to grow our business, optimize our resources, and protect our community. Our goal is that every job gets done with a high quality experience for the user.Our Operations Technology Team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer. As a senior engineer, you'll be one of the leaders of the team, helping to mentor junior engineers, proposing creative solutions, and de-tangling the complex into the simple. We believe strongly in test-driven development and code reviews. Join us in creating a better everyday life for everyday people.You will be required to:Working across the entire tech stack in a cross functional team to build end-to-end features.Collaborate with design and product management to conceptualize new product features from the ground upBuilding out backend APIs to support clients, taskers, and internal usersUnderstand how to organize code across the stack: what belongs in the frontend, what in the backArchitect and create complex solutions to backend challengesWork alongside more junior software engineers to help them think through designs, code implementation, and how to break down their goals into actionable stepsParticipate in code reviews, listening to feedback and commenting on other approachesInvest in the documentation of best practices and coding patternsHelp solve complex debugging, testability, and deployability problemsCollaborate across teams to promote consistencyContributing to our technical roadmap of ongoing improvements, enhancements and updatesProviding technical leadership and communicating overall progress to Engineering LeadershipYou should have:5+ years of experience, comfortable working independentlyProficient with Ruby/Rails, Javascript, React.js, Next.js , Node.jsExperience building API-driven applicationsUnderstand how to organize code across the stack: what belongs in the frontend, what in the backComfortable with test frameworksA strong advocate of clean codeYou might be a fit if you have:Experience with event-driven architecture.Experience with modeling mappings and leveraging ElasticSearchAny GraphQL or Federated API layer experienceFamiliarity with automated testing and JS build and packaging systems like Webpack and JestExperience leading and delivering cross-functional projects.A growth mindset and a desire to learn, teach, and mentor others.Compensation & Benefits: At Taskrabbit, our approach to compensation is designed to be competitive, transparent, and equitable. Total compensation consists of base pay + bonus + benefits + perks. The base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000. This range is representative of base pay only, and does not include any other total cash compensation amounts, such as company bonus or benefits.
