Irvine, CaliforniaOnsiteFull Time$135k - $150kSenior Software Engineer – Java & Payment Technologies Our client, a fast-growing company within the EV/AV (Electric & Autonomous Vehicle) industry, is looking to add a Senior Software Engineer to their team in Irvine, CA. They're seeking someone with strong experience in Java development, API integrations, embedded systems, payment processing/POS solutions, and UI development.Please note: This is a fully onsite position requiring attendance 5 days per week at the Irvine office. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative embedded technologies that support next-generation payment and vehicle solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background with experience developing applications that interact with firmware, payment devices, backend services, and user-facing interfaces. You'll collaborate with engineers across hardware, firmware, and software teams to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions.Required Skills & ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Experience developing software for embedded systems Strong Java programming skills Experience building and supporting API integrations Solid understanding of embedded systems and software architecture Experience working with processors and peripheral interfaces Background supporting payment processing platforms, POS systems, and payment devices Experience with UI-layer development Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in embedded environments Familiarity with Git, Jira, and Docker Experience with scripting and automation Knowledge of build tools and software deployment processes Desired Skills & ExperienceC++ experience is highly preferred Exposure to cloud-based environments, particularly OTA (Over-the-Air) updates and backend integrations Familiarity with mobile payment technologies Prior experience in the EV, AV, or automotive industry What You Will Be DoingTech BreakdownJava Development API Integration Payment Processing & POS Systems User Interface Development Firmware & Software Integration Test Automation Git, Jira, Docker Cloud Technologies (Nice to Have) C++ (Preferred) Daily ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain software applications for embedded systems Write and optimize Java-based code while contributing to C++ development efforts when needed Implement, validate, and support firmware-related functionality Create verification suites and automate test cases Partner with firmware and embedded engineering teams to ensure effective system integration Debug and troubleshoot software-to-firmware communication issues Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level testing Analyze and resolve software defects, performance issues, and system bottlenecks Maintain development and testing documentation Provide project updates and communicate technical risks, issues, and resolutions Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers throughout the development lifecycle Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews The OfferBase Salary: $135,000 - $150,000BenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Coverage 401(k) with 100% Company Match Paid Vacation and Sick Time 11 Paid Holidays Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future.
