Emergency Department Technician

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast‑paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments. Every day you will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth‑running ED. Key Responsibilities Technical skills: competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures within scope of practice. Assist the EDRN by preparing the patient for examination/treatment appropriate to the chief complaint and demographic/population‑specific criteria. Obtain 12‑lead EKGs when directed or ordered. Perform and document all vital signs, special procedure set‑up, splinting, and any other simple tasks as directed by the RN within scope of practice. Respond effectively in emergency situations; stock, re‑stock supplies in the department, and may be asked to place orders for specialty or stationary supplies specific to the ED. Documentation: perform legible, timely, concise, and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system (Cerner FirstNet). Required Qualifications Successful completion of an Accredited EMT Program in California and previous experience as an ER Tech or EMT. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification in California. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications Six (6) months ER Tech experience. Six (6) months experience working for a 911 or IFT/CCT ambulance or fire service.
