Kennel Technician/Dog Trainer

Job Description

Dog Trainer / Kennel Technician — Vet Techs & Dog Handlers Welcome

Oakland Park, FL 33311 | $20/hr | 35–40 hrs/week

Why This Role Fits Vet Techs & Trainers

Already work in animal care? This role was built for you. If you've spent time as a Veterinary Technician, Vet Assistant, Kennel Attendant, Dog Handler, or Canine Behavior Specialist , you already have the instincts, patience, and animal-handling skills we need — no dog training certification required to apply. We'll train you further on obedience work, behavior modification, and even prep for working dogs supporting law enforcement K9 programs.

This is a rare opportunity to move from clinical or kennel-based animal care into hands-on dog training and behavior work, with real growth potential and paid, structured training built in.

About the Role

We're hiring a Dog Trainer / Kennel Technician to join a facility that cares for and trains dogs for everyday pet owners and law enforcement partners alike. You'll manage daily kennel operations while getting hands-on training experience — working obedience, behavior modification, and specialized skill-building with a variety of breeds and temperaments.

What You'll Do

\n
• Provide daily hands-on care for dogs: feeding, cleaning, health monitoring, and kennel upkeep
\n
• Assist with obedience training, behavior modification, and specialized skill work
\n
• Support training prep for dogs headed to public clients and law enforcement placements
\n
• Track and document behavior, progress, and training outcomes
\n
• Safely handle dogs of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments
\n
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility
\n
• Build trust-based relationships with animals to improve training outcomes
\n
• Collaborate with a small team to grow your skills in canine handling and training techniques
\n

What We're Looking For

\n
• Experience working in a kennel, veterinary clinic, shelter, or animal care environment with 20+ dogs (4+ years preferred)
\n
• Background as a Vet Tech, Vet Assistant, Kennel Attendant, Groomer, or Dog Trainer is a strong plus
\n
• Comfortable and confident handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
\n
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (required)
\n
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and follow-through on daily tasks
\n
• Clear communicator who works well in a small team environment
\n
• Physically able to lift, clean, and stand for extended periods
\n
• Genuine passion for animal welfare and eagerness to grow into training work
\n

*No formal dog training certification needed — if you have real hands-on animal experience and want to build a training career, we want to hear from you.*
