Preoperative Registered Nurse (RN)At the Connecticut Joint and Spine Institute within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Preoperative Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre & PACU provides pre-operative nursing care for patients preparing for surgical procedures. The RN conducts comprehensive assessments, verifies readiness for anesthesia and surgery, provides education, and supports patients and families throughout the pre-operative process.What You Will DoComplete detailed pre-operative assessments, including medical history review, medication verification, and evaluation of surgical and anesthesia readiness.Provide patient and family education on the surgical process, expectations, and pre-procedure instructions to ensure understanding and readiness.Monitor patient status prior to surgery, address concerns, and collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams for safe, efficient transitions to the operating room.Minimum QualificationsGraduation from an accredited nursing program.Current Connecticut RN license.The ideal candidate will have one or more years of Pre Op or Perioperative nursing experience.PreferredCandidates with two or more years of medical-surgical, telemetry, or step-down nursing experience in an Inpatient Acute Setting may be considered for training.BLS and ACLS certifications (support available post-hire).Ability to practice according to ASPAN (American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nursing) standards.Position Highlights and BenefitsFull Time – 36 hours/week – Day ShiftMonday through Friday, with late call rotations supporting shifts until 4:00 pm.No weekends9-hour shifts with variable start times, typically 5:00 am to 2:30 pmCompensation and BenefitsHourly Staff RN position; pay range: $37.25 – $61.75/hourOur comprehensive benefits package includes:Medical, Dental, Prescription Drug, and Vision Coverage, Day 1Retirement Savings Program with Employer Match, Day 1Time Off - may include Paid Time Off, Vacation, Sick Time, and Holidays, Day 1Tuition Reimbursement and Professional Development OpportunitiesBasic and Supplemental Life and AD&D InsuranceWell-being InitiativeCareer Growth and Advancement Opportunities within Trinity HealthMinistry/Facility InformationSaint Francis Hospital, established in 1897, has been a cornerstone institution in Connecticut.
