POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Responsible for patient care under the supervision of the nursing staff. Primary responsibilities include transporting patients, maintaining the equipment and supplies in readiness for patient care. Orders and stocks supplies necessary for the daily functioning of the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. (100%) – Provide patient care at the direction of the nursing staff.

    1. Provide liquids for patients in Observations.

    2. Transport discharged patients to the front of ASC.

    3. Assist patients as directed by the nursing staff.

  2. Maintaining equipment and supplies in readiness for patient care.

    1. Clean carts/chairs as needed.

    2. Clean all surfaces and areas as directed or requested.

    3. Restock frig and order food supplies.

    4. Make up carts.

    5. Restock all patient care areas (pre/post and intra-op).

    6. Obtain medical gases and suction as needed.

  3. Order and stock supplies necessary for the daily functioning of the ASC

    1. Pick cases for surgeries.

    2. Pick up pharmacy supplies.

  4. Support nursing/clerical staff as directed by the Manager/Charge nurse.

    1. Discharge out of the surgi program and last word as requested.

    2. Assist with clerical support as requested.

  5. Intra-op responsibilities: Assist with the cleaning of instruments and processing as directed.

    1. Clean instruments

    2. Wrap and run the autoclave.

    3. Restock supplies to intra-op and supply area.

    4. Help with room turn over, dispose of contaminated supplies/instruments.

    5. Stock scrub sink area.

    6. Additional duties as requested by Manager/staff.

  6. Duties will be assigned and may vary based on the flow of the unit.
