Our 64‑bed unit spans two floors and offers a broad range of medical diagnoses outside any specialty areas.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. It is responsible for ongoing patient data collection, documentation in the medical records, and a variety of unit support functions that help the nursing unit operate efficiently.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Assist with activities of daily living and tasks that promote patient health, including basic hygiene, mobility support, and nutritional intake assistance. Collect patient specimens and data—vital signs, input/output, and other delegated measurements—documenting objective data in the medical record and assisting in specimen transport. Recognize and report abnormalities or changes in patient health status to a licensed professional, ensuring continuity of care through clear communication with other caregivers. Perform procedures and use equipment delegated by a licensed professional, such as blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs, and monitoring. Provide supplies and assistance under direct supervision. Handle receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient communication and information flow, resolve customer issues, and follow appropriate protocols. Maintain complete patient records, including admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms; ensure accurate charting and availability of patient education materials. Keep office, dietary, and medical supplies stocked, complete requisition forms, reconcile orders, and track electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and laptops. Assist with patient transport, including pre‑operative and immediate post‑operative patients to critical care units, and participate in operating room turnover. Work under supervision, focusing on customer service and interacting with staff, patients, families, and physicians in a fast‑paced environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Current BLS certification (required). Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in the state of practice (required for new hires). At least one year of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office, or prior customer‑service experience. Excellent organizational skills and strong human‑relations and communication abilities. Working knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy, and keyboarding skills. Minimum passing score of 85% on ECG or EEG test with accurate identification of lethal cardiac dysrhythmias and epileptiform activity (required based on department assignment). Successful completion of an approved basic electrocardiogram interpretation course, electroencephalographic interpretation course, or on‑the‑job training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure (preferred). Recent healthcare experience (preferred). Completed unit secretary program (preferred).
