Bob Zorich owns three separate organizations - Alma Rosa, Flockhill, and a Family Office - and is looking to centralize and streamline their data infrastructure. The immediate need is for a technical resource who can clean and organize existing data, build a dedicated data lake for each organization, and develop an executive dashboard that provides a clear, at-a-glance view of performance across all businesses.
Long term, the vision is to layer in agentic AI capabilities, enabling Bob to quickly query and interpret business data in real time. Once the foundational data lakes and dashboards are in place, the plan is to bring on an AI Developer to build this functionality using Claude.

Key Objectives for the Data Engineer:

• Partner with Leadership: Collaborate with stakeholders across each organization to define reporting requirements and determine what insights are most critical for decision-making. Develop tools and reporting structures to support those needs.
• Build a Unified Data Platform: Design and implement a centralized data architecture that consolidates information from all three entities: Alma Rosa, Flockhill, and the Family Office.
• Drive Efficiency Through AI: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency through thoughtful AI implementation.
• Centralize Performance Reporting: Create standardized, cross-organization reporting that provides leadership with clear, actionable insights into overall performance.
• Explore Commercial Opportunities: Evaluate the potential to commercialize internal learnings by developing software products or consulting offerings based on the organization's data integration capabilities, particularly in connection with Alma Rosa.

Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Engineer with hands-on experience in Microsoft Fabric to support data modeling, reporting, and analytics initiatives. This role will work closely with business stakeholders to transform raw data into reliable insights using modern Microsoft analytics tools.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with Power BI, understands core data concepts, and has exposure to Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Notebooks, or Pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards for business and operational use
• Build and manage semantic models using Power BI datasets or Fabric Lakehouse data
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into clear, actionable visuals
• Write and optimize DAX measures to support KPIs, trends, and ad-hoc analysis
• Perform data modeling, including relationships, calculated columns, and measures
• Support data ingestion and transformation using Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, or Pipelines)
• Validate data accuracy and troubleshoot data quality or performance issues
• Maintain documentation for reports, datasets, and data sources
• Assist with report deployment, refresh scheduling, and workspace management

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI (reports, datasets, DAX)
• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (facts, dimensions, relationships)
• Experience writing DAX measures and basic calculations
• Working knowledge of SQL for querying and validating data
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows, Notebooks, or Pipelines)
• API connection to RMS Via Notebooks using Python
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Delta tables
• Familiarity with dataflows, pipelines, or notebook-based transformations
• Understanding of performance optimization in Power BI
• Experience migrating from legacy reporting tools (SSRS, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Knowledge of security concepts such as workspace roles and row-level security (RLS)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Direct Lake or incremental refresh
• Familiarity with Azure data services or on-prem SQL Server environments
• Background in business analytics, finance, operations, or supply chain data
• Microsoft Power BI or Fabric certification
