This role involves analyzing borrower qualifications, ensuring compliance with lending guidelines, and making sound credit decisions. Key Responsibilities: Evaluate mortgage applications to determine borrower eligibility, creditworthiness, and ability to repay. Review and verify financial documents, credit reports, income sources (including complex self-employed income), and asset statements. Analyze applications involving multiple investment properties or second homes. Ensure compliance with internal lending policies and regulatory guidelines, including TRID rules and disclosure requirements. Perform second-signature reviews on appraisals and files underwritten by third-party vendors. Approve, condition, or deny loans based on thorough risk assessment. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; 2–5 years of mortgage underwriting experience. In-depth knowledge of the full mortgage origination process and regulatory guidelines. Proven ability to perform complex income calculations and manual underwriting. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective written/verbal communication. Proficiency in TRID regulations and mortgage disclosure timing.
