Associate Veterinarian

Introduction
An established veterinary hospital in Chesapeake, Virginia is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its team on either a full-time or part-time basis. Serving the local community since 2006, the hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care across a varied caseload including dogs, cats, pocket pets and exotic pets. Applications are welcomed from both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with mentorship and continued professional development available to support doctors at different stages of their careers. The full-service practice combines General Practice medicine with advanced diagnostics, surgery and complementary therapies, providing the opportunity to manage a diverse range of cases within a supportive clinical environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, including wellness and preventive care, diagnostic investigation, treatment planning, dentistry, surgery and ongoing medical management. The successful veterinarian will take responsibility for patient care from diagnosis through treatment, with the clinical autonomy to make appropriate medical decisions and maintain high standards of veterinary care. Responsibilities include developing long-term client relationships, clearly communicating diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations, and educating owners to support informed decisions regarding their pets' health. The Associate Veterinarian will work collaboratively with the wider paraprofessional team, with mentorship available for new graduates and continued professional development and internal specialty consultation available to support clinical growth and the management of more complex cases.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services, alongside Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Exotic Medicine, Acupuncture, Laser Therapy, Physical Rehabilitation, Behavioral Care and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound and Blood & Laboratory Testing, alongside modern anesthetic agents and advanced anesthetic monitoring equipment. The hospital performs Soft Tissue, Dental and Orthopedic Surgery and combines traditional veterinary medicine with complementary treatment options, allowing a broad range of medical and surgical cases to be managed in-house. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the hospital closed on Sundays.

The hospital currently has an established two-veterinarian team, supported by hospital management and an experienced paraprofessional and support team. The clinical environment places an emphasis on collaboration, mentorship and continued professional development, providing new graduates with support as they develop their clinical confidence and experience, while experienced veterinarians have opportunities to further develop their individual clinical interests.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
