Our organization is in search of a skilled, board-certified Transplant Hepatologist to take on the role of Medical Director for Liver Transplantation and Hepatology.
This is a remarkable opportunity for a seasoned transplant hepatologist to lead and enhance a well-established, high-volume liver transplant and hepatology program that caters to the Inland Empire and its neighboring areas. The Medical Director will be responsible for providing both clinical and strategic direction for the liver transplant and hepatology service line, collaborating closely with transplant surgeons, hepatology faculty, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, administration, and other multidisciplinary partners. The ideal candidate will join a supportive team of transplant hepatologists and advanced practice providers, with the chance to influence the program's ongoing development, including the expansion of transplant services, regional hepatology outreach, and transplant oncology initiatives.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- MD or DO degree
- Board certification in Transplant Hepatology and Gastroenterology
- Current unrestricted medical license in California or eligibility for licensure in California
- Extensive clinical experience in liver transplantation and the management of advanced liver disease
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building abilities
- Dedication to multidisciplinary care, education, quality improvement, and program development
The academic appointment and rank will be aligned with the candidate's experience and academic achievements.
About the Program
Our Liver Transplant Program ranks among the largest in California, performing approximately [insert number] deceased-donor liver transplants each year. The program delivers comprehensive care for patients facing advanced liver disease and liver transplantation across the Inland Empire and surrounding areas, with regional outreach clinics located in Palm Springs, Murrieta, and Riverside.
Additionally, the Transplant Institute supports high-volume kidney and pancreas transplant programs and has a well-established living donor kidney transplant program, providing a robust institutional foundation for ongoing growth and innovation in transplantation.
Our organization serves as the primary tertiary and quaternary referral center in the Inland Empire, catering to Riverside and San Bernardino counties and a regional population exceeding four million. The Transplant Institute and our medical center feature modern, state-of-the-art facilities and foster a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Nestled at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, our location offers easy access to Southern California's mountains, beaches, deserts, and major urban areas. The region boasts excellent educational institutions and a cost of living that is more favorable compared to many coastal Southern California communities.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated annual base salary ranges from $475,000 to $525,000.
Compensation will be tailored to the candidate's experience, qualifications, leadership responsibilities, and academic rank.
This salary range reflects the expected compensation for this leadership role. Further details regarding the faculty compensation plan, benefits, retirement programs, paid time off, professional development support, and other elements of the compensation package will be provided during the recruitment process.
