Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor (26-14) Overview The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor serving Mariposa and Merced counties. The advisor will implement an extension education and applied problem‑solving research program in livestock production systems including grazing management, pasture and range management, nutrition, herd health, animal husbandry, genetic selection, reproduction, harvesting/processing, and marketing. Responsibilities Develop and deliver educational outreach programs and research that address local livestock community challenges. Collaborate with UC Davis Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, ANR Program Teams, and other regional partners. Provide individual consultations, presentations, workshops, field demonstrations, and farm/site visits. Disseminate information via radio outreach, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, and social media. Prepare publications in newsletters, popular press articles, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer‑reviewed journals. Work with livestock producers, public resource agencies, conservation organizations, and youth groups to identify extension needs. Maintain office hours at the UCCE Mariposa headquarters and travel to Merced County as required. Qualifications and Skills Master’s degree in animal science, range management or a closely related field. Certified Rangeland Manager license or minimum coursework for certification within five years of hire. Valid California driver’s license and liability/property‑damage insurance for travel. Extension experience and demonstrated excellence in applied research. Coursework in range management and livestock production. Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration. Knowledge of California natural resources. Experience in remote outreach using technology. Background investigation, fingerprinting and compliance with California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Written, oral, interpersonal, and information‑technology communication skills; Spanish language proficiency desired. Ability to work with diverse socio‑economic classes and ethnicities. Commitment to lifelong learning and institutional growth. Location Headquarters: UCCE Mariposa County, 5009 Fairgrounds Road, Mariposa, CA 95338. The advisor will also serve Merced County. Salary & Benefits Salary range for Assistant Rank: $85,600 (Step I) to $105,200 (Step VI). Step placement is based on experience and professional qualifications.
