MUST BE A CURRENT EMPLOYEE OF READY MIXED CONCRETE TO BE CONSIDERED Position Overview The Plant Dispatcher operates trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, asphalt and other materials or equipment to various locations. When providing dispatch coverage, the dispatcher manages driver schedules and routes while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers, production teams, and service personnel. This relief position covers for the full‑time position when needed. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Receives calls from customers and guides the customer through the ordering process. Works with dispatch center to coordinate trucks at plant site, schedule, print tickets and scheduling. Establishes delivery times according to truck capacities, distances to delivery sites, and fleet availability. Maintains active communication with dispatch center and reports plant breakdowns and startups to all personnel. Enters orders into the computer. Places orders at appropriate locations determined by jobsite location and plant availability. Advises customers on mix to use for specific applications (e.g., footing, walls, flat work). Monitors equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules. Handles all calls and other forms of communication in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. Must pass pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle record check. Must have and maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement and maintain a motor vehicle record that meets company standards. Must have and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals. Regular, on‑time, and consistent attendance is required; willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and away from home when required. Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA, MSHA, Company Policy, and specific job‑site requirements. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Professional and courteous attitude toward co‑workers, supervisors, and the public. Willingness and ability to adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs, and other conditions affecting daily responsibilities. Ability to develop relationships and work with teams as both a leader and a participant. Effective interpersonal and communication skills: building rapport, listening, presenting, giving, and receiving feedback. Ability to delegate, schedule, and manage time effectively to get work done through others. Strong problem‑solving and leadership skills. Basic mathematical skills and ability to interpret financial data and information. Capability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally. Physical Requirements Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently talk, hear, walk, sit, and occasionally stand, reach, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others by telephone, electronically, and in person. Able to utilize a computer for email communication and preparation of documents and spreadsheets. May require sitting for extended periods of time. Work Environment Field duties expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate to loud. Non‑field duties occur in a typical office setting with noise level usually quiet to moderate.
