92G Food Service Specialist

Overview As a Food Service Specialist for the Army National Guard, you provide the sustenance soldiers need to perform at their best and protect the nation. You plan and prepare menus, serve food, and maintain food safety and facility sanitation for groups ranging from 25 to 2,500 soldiers, in both field and fixed locations. Job Duties Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam, and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes Operate, maintain, and clean field kitchen equipment Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment Skills You’ll Learn Standard and dietetic menus and recipes Food and supply ordering Storage of meats, poultry, and other perishable items Helpful Skills Interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting, and chemistry Training Food Service Specialist training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn essential soldiering skills and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Training is a mix of classroom instruction and field work.
