Immediate Lab Technician

This Lab Technician role offers an excellent opportunity to build a career in a specialized laboratory environment, with strong training and clear growth potential. You will work closely with perfumers to support the development and preparation of fragrance formulations, ensuring accurate compounding, labeling, and bottling of products. The position is ideal for someone who is organized, reliable, eager to learn, and interested in entering or growing within the fragrance space.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with perfumers to support the preparation and development of fragrance formulations.
• Accurately compound fragrances by reviewing formulas and combining ingredients according to precise specifications.
• Handle and work with approximately 200–300 chemicals at any given time while maintaining strict accuracy and safety standards.
• Label and bottle all fragrance formulas with meticulous attention to detail to ensure correct identification and traceability.
• Perform sampling and application tasks as needed to support fragrance testing and evaluation.
• Complete data entry tasks related to formulas, samples, and laboratory records, maintaining organized and up-to-date documentation.
• Use pipettes and other laboratory tools to measure ingredients accurately, including weighing materials in grams.
• Collaborate with a team of laboratory technicians to meet deadlines and support a fast-paced workflow when required.
• Follow established laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards at all times.
• Actively participate in training to learn fragrance compounding techniques if you do not have prior experience in this area.

Essential Skills

• Prior laboratory experience, even if not specifically in fragrance.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work accurately with multiple tasks and chemicals simultaneously.
• Excellent math skills, including precise measurement and weighing of materials in grams.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail when compounding, labeling, and bottling formulas.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment when needed.
• Passion for learning and willingness to be trained in fragrance compounding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Interest in entering or advancing within the fragrance industry is a significant plus.
• Experience working with fragrance, fine fragrance, or as a perfumer assistant is beneficial.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar systems is a plus.
• Experience with fragrance application and sampling processes is advantageous.
• Comfort using pipettes and standard laboratory equipment.

Work Environment

You will work in a small laboratory setting as part of a team of approximately seven technicians. The environment can be fast paced at times, requiring focus, accuracy, and effective teamwork. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekend work. You will wear a lab coat while performing your duties and use a variety of laboratory tools and equipment, including pipettes and weighing instruments, as you handle a wide range of chemicals under established safety and quality procedures.

The role offers structured training for entry-level candidates and clear opportunities for growth and upward mobility within the fragrance space.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
