Parts Driver

The Parts Driver delivers and picks up parts and equipment for the dealership. Essential duties and responsibilities include picking up and delivering parts and equipment to customers, satellite stores, wholesale accounts, and vendors. The driver checks with the parts manager, wholesale representative, inventory control administrator, parts counter people, or shipping and receiving clerk before leaving to coordinate any last minute pick-ups or deliveries. They deliver parts to the body shop when needed and distribute to appropriate body technicians. The driver verifies that the invoice matches the purchase order for each pick-up, checks payments received with the invoices for each delivery, and keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups. They request the recipient's signature on each delivery entry, unload the truck each night, and turn in all paperwork and undelivered parts. Basic maintenance of the truck is handled, including filling the tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean, and ensuring required inspections are performed. The driver advises the parts manager if delivery trucks need major repairs and maintenance. They assist the service department as needed with attendant responsibilities of managing the drop-off and pick-up of customer cars, help with stocking and posting orders when they arrive to expedite delivery to shop technicians and wholesale accounts, maintain a professional attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors, follow the dress code the company has put in place, maintain a clean and neat work area, follow federal, state, and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information, report on time to work and follow the schedule that is given, call the supervisor if they cannot be at work on time, keep current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position, follow all company policies and procedures, and notify the supervisor of any illegal activity.

The individual must maintain an accountable driving record according to our insurance standards at all times. No employee or applicant should be under the influence of any substance including medical marijuana on-site or during working hours. Furthermore, employees under the influence are prohibited from undertaking any task that would constitute negligence or professional malpractice, and are prohibited from operating any type of powered vehicle or power equipment – handheld or otherwise.
