Job Description Pharmacology Faculty Job Title Pharmacology Faculty Reports to Department Chair of Medical Education FLSA Classification Exempt (salary) Location Bentonville, Arkansas (On-site) Date Reviewed 03/13/2026 About The Position The Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Pharmacology is a full‑time, non‑tenure foundational sciences educator. The faculty position is available at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor level, with rank commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure allopathic medical students receive broad‑based training. Foundational sciences are interwoven throughout the four‑year curriculum. The instructor will collaborate with colleagues across phases and disciplines of medical education and with other clinical and foundational science faculty for the development of clinical cases, learning activities, and assessment items. Pharmacology faculty should have experience in multiple disciplines with clinical relevance including: Pharmacology Microbiology Pathology Pharmacogenomics Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop Curriculum. Oversee the development and integration of all content tied to Pharmacology, including the creation of clinically relevant narratives and various assessment tools such as NBME‑style multiple‑choice questions and active learning assessment items. Teach / Instruct / Facilitate. Actively engage in student instruction, developing and delivering content using active learning methodologies. Collaborate with faculty to create and deliver pre‑session and in‑session flipped classroom content and facilitate small and large group activities such as case‑based learning. Assessments / Evaluations. Create learning objectives, map them to the curriculum, and use appropriate metrics and assessment methods to ensure students meet objectives. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff for continuous quality improvement of courses, sessions, activities, and assessments. Serve. Participate actively in leadership and group membership within the medical school (e.g., Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee). Grow Professionally. Participate in professional development programs to enhance teaching and educational skills. Other. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD or equivalent) with specific training/experience in Pharmacology or a closely related field, required. Experience delivering Pharmacology content in higher education, required. Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education, required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an LCME or COCA accredited undergraduate medical education or postgraduate level education programs with a concentration in pharmacology or a closely related field, required. Experience in curricular development, review, or implementation in higher education, preferred. Participation in inter‑disciplinary team endeavors, especially integration with medical microbiology content, preferred. Demonstrated experience and expertise in medical education, including curriculum development, assessment tool formulation and editing, and delivery in the field of Pharmacology, preferred. Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating an integrated foundational science course, preferred. Comfort with a range of educational technologies and active learning methodologies (e.g., CBL, PBL, TBL), preferred. Understanding of different assessment methods, preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands include prolonged sitting at a desk, using a computer and telephone, good eye and hand coordination, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
