Eligibility Specialist II Location: Machias – Anticipated Vacancy. Partial telework available with management approval. Salary : $21.54 – $30.14 per hour (Step 1 for new employees). Grade: 21. Position Number: 02022-7963. Core Responsibilities The Eligibility Specialist II determines initial and continued eligibility for public assistance programs, focuses on MaineCare policy, reviews eligibility decisions made by others, and maintains high customer service standards in a fast‑paced environment. Typical Duties Interview clients, obtain and assess facts, data, supporting information, and documentation for public assistance applications or recertifications. Evaluate information and apply allowable standards and criteria. Explain program eligibility requirements, rules, regulations, and client rights and responsibilities. Review and analyze information for accuracy, identify inconsistencies, request documentation, verify and validate data. Answer inquiries and refer clients to various programs. Accurately enter data into an automated system and ensure accurate eligibility results. Communicate verbally and in writing with clients, co‑workers, and other agencies. Perform intermediate mathematical calculations. Maintain confidentiality of all applicant and recipient information. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of education, training, and/or progressively responsible experience in a social services setting demonstrating interviewing and data gathering skills sufficient to form judgments in eligibility determinations, claims resolutions, and/or customer service requests; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Business Administration, or a related field.
