Trade Compliance SpecialistHouston, TX 77051OverviewLevel ExperiencedDescriptionThe Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of transactional trade compliance for the enterprise. This role will ensure goods are properly exported, imported, and shipped in accordance with established corporate policies and procedures as well as US Customs Regulations and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).Responsibilities/QualificationsResponsibilitiesOverall management of Import and Export transactions.Analyze import documentation for completeness and compliance with applicable Customs requirementsPrepare import documents for Customs Broker.Monitor and track performance of Customs Broker to SOP /Compliance KPI'sPrepare necessary export documentation (SED, CI, P/L, Carnets etc.) ensuring compliance with US Government regulations as well as corporate policies.Track and report status of all imports and exports to ensure smooth transactions and information back to the business. Provide Customs Broker with the necessary documentation as required.Track and maintain records and reports of all imports.Support functional groups such as Customer Service, Business Development, Operations, Sales Administration, and Shipping regarding export and import of materials and products.Support Trade compliance Manager with investigations and auditsOther duties as assignedSkillsDemonstrates understanding of US Commerce's Export Administration Regulations (EAR), HTS, 232/301 Tariffs, and applicable exemptions/exceptionsExhibits strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trendsAbility to multi-taskDemonstrates strong computer skills and proficiency using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); AES filing and AES reportingUses vision to think beyond the immediate situation, explore multiple potential paths, and adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstancesDemonstrates the ability to develop and maintain internal and external trust, professional relationshipsExperience working with ERP software and reportingEducation/ExperienceBachelor's Degree in business or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and educationMinimum of five (5) years' experience with EAR, US Customs, HTS, Schedule B, etc.Experience dealing with freight forwarders, customs brokers, supply chain, purchasing, and logistics with previous experience in creating and reviewing export/import documentsExperience working with steel commodities such as pipe, fittings, flanges, and valvesCustoms Broker license preferredPhysical DemandsAbility to work in an office environmentRequired to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)Special RequirementsU.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearanceOccasionally required to travel
