This contract opportunity for a Special Education Teacher welcomes educators passionate about leadership and advocacy for exceptional learners. With a manageable caseload of 12 students (primarily grades 6–8, but with some PreK–12 involvement), you’ll play a pivotal role by providing both pull-out and push-in services, as well as overseeing the complete special education process from initial screening through IEP development and implementation.

Key Qualifications:

• Current New Mexico teaching certificate in Special Education
• Experience working with PreK–12 students, especially grades 6–8, preferred
• Strong understanding of IDEA and commitment to compliance with federal, state, and district special education laws
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver services to students via both pull-out and push-in models, adjusting to individual and group needs
• Supervise and manage all aspects of the special education process, including screening, identification, and placement
• Lead and contribute to the crafting and implementation of IEPs, ensuring compliance and quality
• Organize completion of evaluation reports and timely reviews of IEP documents
• Monitor new student evaluations and timelines to optimize placement and programming
• Collaborate with administrative and instructional staff to foster inclusive education where appropriate

This position offers a consistent, weekday schedule—Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week—with assignments running through May 2027.
