Principal Strategic Partnerships

Role Overview The Principal, Strategic Payment Partnerships is part of the Expedia Global Payments team within the Product & Technology division at Expedia Group. This senior leadership role focuses on emerging players in the industry such as fintech companies, value‑added services, payments orchestration enablers, and other innovative players. The role develops payment commercial strategy, deal structure and partnerships that enable Expedia Group to deliver frictionless payments, drive revenue and improve our strategic position in the travel industry. Responsibilities Stay abreast of commercial, regulatory and innovative trends in the payment industry, serve as the trusted thought partner to the Expedia Global Payments leadership. Advocate for scalable, simplified, impactful solutions across the organization using long‑standing payments experience and partner relationships. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and business owners to identify strategic approaches and solutions. Lead business‑case development, review and approval, working with product, tech and finance stakeholders. Systematically identify and execute high‑impact opportunities with external partners. Lead the short‑ to long‑term commercial plan, negotiate deals, structure contracts and drive commercial progress from concept to results. Benchmark industry practices, manage RFIs, RFPs and similar exercises, and calibrate priorities with internal teams. Serve as the go‑to person for partner strategy and provide transparent, data‑driven decision support. Minimum Qualifications Proven e‑commerce or payments experience. Established experience working with external partners. Prior experience in major contract negotiations and deal construction. Excellent communication and influencing skills with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Expertise in one or more of: credit card, financing, virtual card, crypto, AI, B2B payments, or currency exchange. History of identifying and executing impactful opportunities with payment partners. Experience influencing senior executives and collaborating across functions with strategic clarity. Ability to navigate ambiguity and execute with agility. Compensation The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $190,000.00 to $266,000.00 with the possibility to increase up to $304,000.00 based on performance.
