Mortgage Loan Officer

The Mortgage Loan Executive will manage day‑to‑day sales and support with applications from community financial centers, web, external referral sources and inbound phone inquiries. The Executive ensures member loan requests meet members’ needs, reviews credit, automated underwriting decisions, initiates and follows up on document requests, and prepares loans for underwriting review. What does GTE look for in a Loan Executive? Sales Meet with and counsel members on new mortgage loan options as determined by current product guidelines. Engage with Community Financial Center teammates to develop quality referral strategies through product training and sales technique. Engage with community organizations to develop a circle of influence for referrals, including realtor events, lead groups, and local chamber membership. Proactively solicit new residential mortgage business and represent GTE in the market. Develop and maintain referral contacts and professional relationships with realtors, builders, etc. Lending Analyze all loan file documentation to begin the pre‑qualification process, moving into the full loan application in the Loan Operating System (LOS). Have working knowledge of secondary market, FHA, VA and CU Portfolio loans and the required documentation. Show knowledge of GTE’s full suite of lending products and other products offered to our members (checking, commercial, investments & insurance services). Communicate lending decisions, including denials or counter‑offers, upfront. Maintain mortgage acumen and knowledge of mortgage products/services offered by the credit union. Reinforce the selling points of our loan types, rates, payments, and terms. Experience Strategic in maintaining defined service level expectations. Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with management and staff. Engaged in campus activities and community involvement. Desire to provide exceptional member experience and needs‑based selling. Operations Qualify for NMLS registration per the Safe Act. Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and disclose correct information to members as required by law. Work responsibilities governed by performance goals and/or targets from annual planning. Participate in weekly or bi‑weekly team meetings, conference calls, and events as assigned. Demonstrate functional knowledge of necessary federal laws and regulations. Handle multiple job responsibilities and tasks to accomplish goals and objectives. Implement action plans to focus on opportunities with all lending products. Demonstrate knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control, Anti‑Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred. Minimum 1‑3 years’ experience or combination of education and experience. Knowledge of secondary market preferred. Position Details Location: Downtown Tampa – GTE Headquarters. Department Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm; Saturday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Loan Executives are not an isolated position; they are “on‑call” to come to HQ, CFC, or community events as required. Full‑time hours required with additional hours as needed. The position is defined as hybrid (in‑office or remote) and may change with managerial notice. Required for Remote/Hybrid Work A quiet workplace to deliver excellent service. Meeting performance standards to qualify for alternative work arrangements. High‑speed internet (≥100 Mbps) and video capability (≥1.5 Mbps up/down). Provide and meet all technical requirements before first training day. Hybrid candidates must live within driving distance and commute regularly to/from office.
