Job DetailsJob Location: Grand Prairie, TX 75050Salary Range: $24.00 - $25.85 Hourly1st Shift Logistics Team Leader Position Type: Hourly, non-exempt Shift Schedule: Mon-Fri, 06:00-14:30 This position is responsible for leading and coordinating daily activities of assigned logistics personnel supporting the Dallas / Grand Prairie Distribution Center. Responsibilities may include material handling, receiving, warehousing, inventory movement, order picking, packing, shipping, replenishment, equipment operation, and other distribution support activities based on operational requirements. The Logistics Team Lead serves as a front-line working leader who provides daily direction, training, support, and coordination for assigned team members while actively participating in operational activities. The position works closely with departmental leadership to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and operational expectations. The role supports employee development, process compliance, inventory integrity, productivity achievement, and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to departmental success. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Daily Operations Leadership Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and support to assigned logistics personnel. Coordinate daily workflow, staffing assignments, and operational priorities to support business requirements. Communicate daily goals, safety expectations, quality requirements, and productivity standards to team members. Assist with onboarding, training, cross-training, and development of employees within the department. Monitor work progress and address routine operational issues while escalating significant concerns to leadership as appropriate. Serve as a primary resource for operational questions and assist with problem resolution. Execute assigned tasks, projects, and operational initiatives with limited supervision while providing regular status updates to leadership. Lead by example through consistent adherence to company policies, procedures, safety standards, and workplace expectations. Assist the Logistics Supervisor with workforce coordination, staffing coverage, attendance monitoring, and daily operational execution. Function as the designated operational lead during periods when management is unavailable or engaged in other business priorities. Performance & Productivity Management Monitor daily productivity, throughput, labor utilization, and workflow performance within assigned areas. Assist in achieving departmental service, productivity, quality, and inventory accuracy goals. Identify operational bottlenecks, workflow constraints, and improvement opportunities. Escalate staffing, inventory, equipment, quality, or process issues that may impact operational performance. Support implementation of corrective actions and process improvements designed to improve departmental results. Assist leadership with execution of labor plans and operational priorities. Inventory, Equipment, and Facility Control Support inventory accuracy through proper product handling, inventory transactions, cycle counts, location control, and reconciliation activities. Maintain the integrity of inventory, products, shipments, and operational processes within assigned areas. Monitor compliance with established inventory management practices including replenishment, picking, put-away, and inventory control procedures. Ensure forklifts, handheld devices, scanners, tools, and operational equipment are used properly and maintained in accordance with company standards. Report equipment deficiencies, maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational risks to leadership. Protect company assets through proper handling, storage, security awareness, and inventory accountability. Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas that support efficient operations. Safety, Quality, and Process Compliance Promote and enforce safe operation of forklifts, powered industrial trucks, and material handling equipment. Ensure team members follow all safety policies, operating procedures, work instructions, and company conduct guidelines. Immediately address or escalation unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and operational risks. Support investigation and resolution of quality, inventory, safety, and operational discrepancies. Assist leadership with maintaining compliance to established departmental processes and standards. Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement activities as required. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, service levels, and labor efficiency. Support development and implementation of process improvements, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training materials. Maintain accurate operational documentation and records as required. Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives assigned by leadership. Other Duties and Responsibilities Support internal and external customer requirements as needed. Assist other operational departments and cross-functional teams based on business demands. Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned. QualificationsExperience, Skills & Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, shipping, receiving, inventory control, or material handling operations required. Previous experience serving as a lead employee, trainer, mentor, or informal leader preferred. Working knowledge of inventory management principles including inventory accuracy, replenishment, picking efficiency, put-away efficiency, and inventory control. Understanding of warehouse operations, distribution processes, and material flow principles. Understanding of productivity, throughput, labor utilization, inventory accuracy, and quality performance measures. Ability to lead, train, coach, and positively influence team performance. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Experience using warehouse management systems, ERP systems, handheld devices, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and related operational software preferred. Knowledge of K&N Business Management System (BMS) preferred. Must possess or be capable of obtaining and maintaining K&N forklift certification. Must be capable of safely operating material handling equipment as required. Must be willing to support ongoing training, personal development, and continuous improvement efforts.
