Salary $69,279 to $101,288 The salary in the Los Angeles World Airports and the Harbor Department is $75,481 to $110,350 The salary in the Department of Water and Power is $89,136 to $110,726; $92,832 to $115,341; $94,795 to $117,763; $96,904 to $120,373 Responsibilities A Civil Engineering Drafting Technician performs drafting using a Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) system and other tools in the preparation of engineering designs, plans, and maps. Qualifications Completion of 12 semester units or 18 quarter units in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and completion of one course in Geometry and Trigonometry from a high school, accredited college, university, trade school, or technical school; or Two years of full-time paid engineering drafting experience which includes one year of engineering drafting experience and one year of experience using a CADD system. Additional requirements Valid Class C driver’s license issued by the California DMV is required for the Department of Water and Power and the Public Works/Bureau of Sanitation; applicants will be disqualified if their DMV record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation such as DUI/DWI. Education must be from a college or university accredited by a City of Los Angeles recognized agency. A list of approved accrediting agencies can be found in the referenced materials. Licensing verification may be conducted at the time of appointment. Candidates may be asked to provide proof of qualifying coursework; applicants may attach qualifying coursework to the online application. Selective Certification Applicants with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map, ArcGIS, Autodesk Revit, Bentley Suite Applications, and/or MicroStation may be eligible for selective certification. Applicants may be required to participate in a performance test to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the listed software suites. Most filled positions are expected to require experience in AutoCAD or MicroStation. Notes The examination weight is 100% multiple-choice; the test is online and proctored.
