Project Lead 3 – Technical Project Manager (Data Engineering & AI Adoption)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to support a data engineering project within an AI adoption program. The candidate will manage cross-functional coordination, track deliverables, support platform and data engineering initiatives, and ensure alignment between business, engineering, and AI stakeholders. This role requires 8 or more years of experience, PMP certification (required — must be noted on resume), and a wide degree of creativity and independent judgment. Familiarity with cloud platforms, data pipelines, and AI/ML adoption efforts is highly desirable. Local Austin-area candidates only — must already reside in Texas.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical projects and programs in data, analytics, and cloud environments. Manage data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing initiatives from planning through delivery. Manage business intelligence, big data, and analytics projects in complex enterprise environments. Support healthcare data initiatives including familiarity with FHIR, CCDA, and HL7 standards. Define project scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, and success metrics. Manage project budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and financial status reporting. Lead cross-functional teams, vendors, and complex project timelines. Coordinate between data engineers, developers, analysts, and business partners. Translate complex technical concepts for business and executive audiences. Produce and maintain project plans, charters, schedules, and lessons learned documentation. Utilize project management tools including Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or Smartsheet. Support AI, advanced analytics, and digital transformation initiatives at the program or project level. Gather requirements, develop specifications, monitor progress, and report project status.

Required Skills and Qualifications

10 years required — Leading technical projects or programs in data, analytics, and cloud environments

10 years required — Leading data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing initiatives from planning through delivery

10 years required — Managing business intelligence, big data, and analytics projects in complex enterprise environments

10 years required — Supporting healthcare data initiatives; FHIR, CCDA, and HL7 familiarity a plus

10 years required — Working knowledge of SQL and database technologies for project planning, estimation, and issue resolution

10 years required — Strong communication skills translating complex technical concepts for business and executive audiences

10 years required — Proven leadership managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and complex project timelines

10 years required — Collaboration with data engineers, developers, analysts, and business partners

10 years required — Defining project scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, and success metrics

10 years required — Project budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and financial status reporting

10 years required — Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or Smartsheet

10 years required — Strong documentation skills for project plans, charters, schedules, and lessons learned

10 years required — Working knowledge of cloud platforms, data systems, or enterprise applications

10 years required — Proactive leadership with strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

8 years preferred — Healthcare or regulated environment experience including compliance, security, and data governance

8 years preferred — PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or similar certification — PMP required

8 years preferred — Healthcare industry experience

8 years preferred — IT processes, SDLC, architecture, and enterprise technology knowledge

8 years preferred — Consulting and facilitation skills

3 years preferred — AI, advanced analytics, or digital transformation program/project support

3 years preferred — TOGAF, Cloud Solution Architecture, or Azure/AWS/GCP certifications

Contract Details

Start: July 1, 2026 End: August 31, 2026 Total Hours: Not to exceed 352 hours Interview: In person and/or Microsoft Teams Note: PMP certification required — must be listed on resume; proof may be requested

Work Location and Schedule

Hybrid — 2 days onsite (Wednesday and Friday), 3 days remote Austin, TX (701 W 51st Street, 78751) Local candidates only — must already reside in Texas; out-of-state candidates will not be considered Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (excluding state holidays) Overtime may be required with pre-approval; all travel and living expenses are the candidate's responsibility
