Practice Model: Independent, physician-owned, democratic structure with an 18-month path to equal partnership, including full voting rights.

This independent, physician-owned group has maintained the same hospital contract since 1998 and currently operates across two locations: a hospital emergency department (Level III Trauma Center, located just a mile from the beach) and a freestanding emergency department in Millville. Additionally, a new freestanding ED is being constructed in Delaware's fastest-growing area, set to open in 2027.

• The partnership track lasts only 18 months, one of the shortest in independent emergency medicine, culminating in equal ownership and full voting rights.
• Physicians rotate through all locations, ensuring an equitable distribution of RVUs—no preference for busier sites.
• Dedicated nocturnists cover their shifts first; remaining nights, weekends, and holidays are shared fairly among all physicians.
• Shift lengths are 10 hours at the hospital and 12 hours at the freestanding EDs, averaging around 14 shifts per month.
• On average, physicians see 1.5 patients per hour.
• Structured onboarding includes 6-9 months of double coverage for residents before they transition to independent shifts at the freestanding ED.
• All sites utilize Epic for electronic health records, along with Dragon dictation and AI clinical tools.

The compensation structure is transparent and aligned with physician interests, featuring:

• A guaranteed hourly base rate with additional differentials for night and holiday shifts.

• Full partnership economics achieved after 18 months, at which point your earnings per RVU approximately double.

The hospital emergency department is a designated Level III Trauma Center and a Joint Commission-accredited Advanced Primary Stroke Center, featuring:

• 37 beds and approximately 50,000 annual visits.
• Daily staffing includes five 10-hour physician shifts and three 12-hour PA shifts.

The freestanding emergency department, which opened in 2020, has 23 beds and handles around 15,000 annual visits in a lower-acuity, high-efficiency setting, located about 30-35 minutes southwest of the main campus.

The new campus freestanding ED, set to open in 2027, will feature 16 emergency exam rooms, two dedicated pediatric rooms staffed by specialists from Nemours Children's Health, advanced imaging capabilities (CT, MRI, ultrasound), an on-site lab and pharmacy, and a helipad.

Most physicians in this group have trained in the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly at medical schools and residencies in Philadelphia, and have intentionally chosen to live along the Delaware coast. This area is celebrated as "The First Town in the First State," known for its beautiful beaches, rich maritime history, and vibrant dining scene. The community offers a perfect blend of relaxed bayfront activities, historic architecture, boutique shopping, and outdoor adventures. The main emergency department is located about a mile from Lewes Beach, with Cape Henlopen State Park—featuring six miles of guarded Atlantic beach, a fishing pier, and approximately 15 miles of interconnected bike trails—just minutes away.
