[POOL] PT Faculty, Apprenticeship

Please see Special Instructions for more details. Job Summary: This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for "[ POOL ]" positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening. Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain their active status in the pool. Deliver instruction during evening classes to students in the electrical or mechanical apprenticeship programs. Teach and inspire students in apprenticeship trades while helping them build real-world skills and strong safety habits that meet industry standards. Guide their learning through lectures, hands-on lab work, and meaningful feedback to help them succeed in class and in their future careers. Electrical courses include electrical theory, electrical motors and controls, limited energy electrical, and National Electrical Code. Industrial/Mechanical courses include Safe Rigging practices, Machinery Alignment, Vibration Analysis, etc. Development and reconfiguration of curriculum related to coursework in accordance with required learning outcomes and training expectations. Electrical Faculty: Provide instruction in electrical theory with hands-on labs to first- through fourth-year apprentices in LME , MPE and/or LEA , LEB trades. Provide instruction in the current National Electrical Code. Provide instruction in mechanical theory with hands on labs to first- through fourth-year apprentices in Millwright, Machinist, Welder, Lubrication Technician, Pipefitter, All Faculty: Use a curriculum developed by the department. Depending on the course assignment, you may be asked to prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes. Complete all administrative tasks associated with teaching a course: assign and grade student work, establish reasonable communication with students, report student course outcomes, maintain student records, and comply with college policies and processes related to teaching workload. Stay up-to-date with industry standards. Be available to answer student questions outside of class, as needed. Maintain consistent communication outside of class such as email or Canvas messaging. Maintain safety and compliance standards during student lab activities. Track consumables during class sessions. Manage students’ professional work habits to maintain a safe environment. Exemplify and promote the mission of LBCC . Help students find and use college services and resources that support their success and help them stay enrolled. Work well with students and coworkers from different backgrounds, experiences, and age groups. Create a classroom that is fair and welcoming for everyone. Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team. Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings. Assess and report grades for student’s written and lab work. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate technical, electronic/electrical equipment safely and efficiently. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate effectively with staff and students. Must be able to read words and numbers. Requires the ability to operate instructional equipment in labs and classrooms. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a college instrumentation lab and classroom with moderate exposure to safety and health hazards. Journeycard or licensure in electrical fields, manufacturing, industrial trades , physics, math, or a related area, plus a minimum of two years full-time equivalent of experience in the field. ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR four years of experience in a related industrial or electrical field. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being "rolled" once per term, if eligible. Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Instructors new to the College typically start at the rate listed in column 1. Table 3 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.
