Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health / Pediatric Psychiatry

Assignment Details

• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• 40 hours per week
• Potential for overtime
• No weekends

Position Overview

Join a multidisciplinary team providing inpatient behavioral health care for children and adolescents in a state-operated psychiatric facility. The RN will deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients experiencing acute mental health and behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and document patients' physical and behavioral health status.
• Administer medications, including psychotropic medications, and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
• Respond to behavioral crises using therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and comply with facility policies and state regulations.
• Promote patient safety through continuous observation, risk assessment, and crisis intervention when necessary.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and medications as appropriate.

Ideal Background

• Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Nursing
• Pediatric or Adolescent Psychiatry (preferred)
• Inpatient Mental Health
• Residential Treatment
• Crisis Intervention and De-escalation
• Trauma-Informed Care

Experience working with children or adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting is highly preferred.
