Surgical Scrub Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and perform unit support activities within the operating room suite
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures by anticipating needs prior to and during each case, including assisting with dressings and cast application at the end of procedures
• Pick cases following physician preference cards and update surgeon preference cards per established processes
• Perform and document accurate surgical counts, including towel clips and instrument trays, ensuring all count policies and procedures are followed before the patient leaves the room
• Identify problems and take appropriate action independently to accomplish department objectives and improve quality of care
• Participate in teaching and contribute to department tasks beyond routine responsibilities, including submitting process improvement recommendations

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a scrub person in a hospital setting
• Experience in orthopedic, neurological, and robotic surgical procedures
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Completion of an approved Operating Room Technician program or demonstrated technical skills through on-the-job training
• Scrub Technician certification preferred
