Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview Geosyntec is an international engineering and consulting firm that serves private and public sector clients across a variety of industrial and municipal sectors. The Senior Electrical Engineer position is based in multiple U.S. locations, including Kennesaw, GA; Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Charlotte, NC; Tampa, FL; and several others, with the option to work remotely at the discretion of the company. Responsibilities Apply technical knowledge to develop and review detailed power design and support system automation and controls engineers. Design and develop electrical systems in compliance with NFPA, NESC, IEEE guidelines and applicable standards. Perform electrical design calculations, including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protective device coordination. Read, interpret, and develop P&ID drawings. Prepare and update technical documentation and drawings, such as single‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, and hazardous area classifications. Conduct site surveys and inspections to assess installation and operation of electrical and control systems. Scope, schedule, and budget electrical design requirements for process engineering projects and proposals. Participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders. Recruit, manage, and mentor early‑ and mid‑career staff and designers. Oversee multiple concurrent project assignments, ensuring timely delivery and quality. Support business development, staff development, and mentoring within the company’s sell‑manage‑do model. Travel to client or company office sites as required, including driving personal, company, and rental vehicles. Education and Licensure Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution (required). Professional registration (P.E.) preferred. Skills, Experience and Qualifications At least 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering focused on design, construction, and operation of process engineering projects (10+ years preferred). Strong background with industrial equipment, electrical motors and VFDs, power distribution, building service wiring, and process controls/automation. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes, including NFPA, IEEE, and federal and state regulations. Experience with Electrical Safety and Arc Flash Hazard analyses and documentation. Excellent leadership, detail orientation, and strong communication skills. Direct water, wastewater, industrial, and/or environmental consulting experience. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced consulting environment, meet strict deadlines, and travel to client facilities as needed. Current OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training and refresher courses (preferred). Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. This position is for a federal client project and requires U.S. citizenship. U.S. Permanent Residents and visa holders do not qualify.
