Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Owner Operator role based in Colorado Springs, CO. The Owner Operator will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining their truck, transporting freight on time, and complying with all DOT, safety, and company policies. Day-to-day activities include coordinating with dispatch on load assignments, reviewing and accepting loads, planning routes, managing hours of service, and completing required documentation such as bills of lading and delivery confirmations. The role also involves regular vehicle inspections, basic upkeep of equipment, and professional communication with shippers, receivers, and brokers. The Owner Operator is expected to uphold high standards of customer service, represent the company professionally on the road, and work collaboratively with dispatch to maximize earnings and minimize empty miles. Qualifications Valid CDL (as required for equipment type), clean driving record, and strong knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service rules. Demonstrated experience as an owner-operator or professional commercial driver, including safe driving habits and reliable on-time performance. Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic truck maintenance, with attention to safety and equipment care. Strong route planning, time management, and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing schedules, traffic, and weather conditions. Effective communication skills for working with dispatchers, brokers, shippers, and receivers, including clear documentation and timely updates. Comfort with using smartphones or onboard systems for navigation, load information, and electronic logging (ELD) as applicable. Professional, customer-focused attitude, reliability, and the ability to work independently while following company guidelines. Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including sitting for extended periods, climbing in and out of trucks, and handling freight as needed.
