Top Client in need of a Nuclear Medicine Tech Overview The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of complex imaging and non-imaging tests on patients of all ages—from neonatal to geriatric. The role requires professional judgment and interaction with patients, physicians, and other allied health care professionals. The technologist works independently and may be assisted by technical supervision. Responsibilities Correctly modify radionuclide and pharmaceutical doses, perform manual decay and concentration formulas, and prepare and administer appropriate dosages of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic procedures. Accurately enter all radiopharmaceutical data—including kit activity, patient dosage, and associated patient information—into logbooks and maintain current pharmacy records. Establish correct patient identification, order verification, and relevance of examinations, recording patient history, labs, and correlating imaging results. Educate and thoroughly explain procedures to patients, answer questions within expertise, allay fears, and promote cooperation to achieve high‑quality examinations. Acquire and process planar, 2‑D, or 3‑D data; expose film with proper annotation, magnification, and format; and maintain knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and SPECT applications. Perform quality control procedures on imaging equipment—scintillation cameras, PET/CT, gamma counters, computers, multiformatting devices, aerosol delivery systems, etc.—including resolution, uniformity, calibration, and minor maintenance. Receive and check all radionuclide shipments for contamination, document and track shipments, and dispose of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations. Monitor personnel, work areas, and patient rooms for radiation levels, report excess exposure, and adhere to safety policies, including badge wear and documentation of pregnancy or breastfeeding status. Order supplies, maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensure laboratory supplies are available, maintain patient satisfaction scores above 90%, attend scheduled staff meetings, complete required in‑service training, and maintain required professional certifications. Complete the authorization process for administering radiopharmaceuticals during the probationary employment period. Qualifications Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and competence in providing Nuclear Medicine services for patients of all ages—including neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Education & Certifications Successful completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology training program. Certification: ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Work Function/Activity Light to Medium Physical Demand (20 to 50 lbs). Frequent lifting, carrying, and holding when moving equipment or materials. Technically advanced equipment primarily operated from a computer screen and control panel. Visual ability to see details at a distance (corrected to 20/40) and at close range; ability to discern colors, brightness variations, and distances between objects. Clear speech required for effective communication. Adept at focusing on a single auditory source amid distracting sounds and detecting pitch and loudness variations.
