Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The CVICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiovascular conditions in a 10-bed intensive care unit. The role involves close monitoring of patients with advanced cardiac devices and the management of critical cardiac parameters, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer direct patient care including titrating cardiac medications, vasoactive drugs, and sedation for intubated patients.
• Monitor and assess patients with LVADS, balloon pumps, swan catheters, TR bands, and other advanced cardiovascular devices.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team in daily rounds to develop and execute individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation within electronic health record systems such as Epic and Pyxis.
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies and adjust care strategies accordingly.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, device management, and post-discharge care.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Georgia RN license or valid Compact license at the time of submission.
• Possess at least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience, preferably in a cardiovascular setting.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Demonstrate ability to manage complex hemodynamic parameters and critical cardiac interventions.
• Proven excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Familiarity with Epic and Pyxis systems preferred.
